We believe in the power of collaboration
We are always looking to multiply positive impact in coffee-growing regions around the world.
Whether it be leveraging our network of existing supporters to develop emergency response funds, or partnering with other initiatives that align with our mission and drive change in the sector, we are always looking to expand impact in coffee-growing regions. By creating intentional partnerships that operate outside our normal scope of work, we are able to innovate and forge new collaborations that build our community and expand our mission.
Now Africa Initiative
Our longest-standing Community-Led Development partnership is with Now Africa Initiative (NAI), a grassroots farmer organization located in Nyamigoye parish in Kanyantorogo sub-county, Kanungu District, Southwestern Uganda.
Founded by local leader Denis Twinamatsiko, NAI’s mission is to play a catalytic role in contributing to the socio-economic transformation of rural Uganda through sustainable agricultural development and educational improvements. As part of this mission, they have established social, economic, and environmental programming for the adults and children in their region, impacting lives and livelihoods for the past eight years. To learn more about NAI and how to support or work with them, contact us today.
Karama Education Center
The Karama Education Center (KEC) is a primary school located in a rural area just outside of the town of Kihiihi in Southwestern Uganda. It was founded in 2017 by Now Africa Initiative (NAI) with the support of TCC, and primarily serves the children of NAI coffee farmers. Over the past few years, the school has experienced extensive growth and enrollment has blossomed to well over 400 students, almost triple the original student body. KEC now manages several school-wide programs, including a scholarship program. To support student scholarships, contact us for more information or visit our donate page.

Donate“What we love the most about working with The Chain Collaborative is their community-led development approach; it has worked very well for us and thanks to it, we have been able to achieve quite a lot during our partnership. More than 1000 smallholder coffee farmers are benefitting and we also have now a thriving primary school serving more than 500 young learners, as well as providing employment to young teachers.”

Carbon, Coffee, and Climate
For a period of 3 years (2020-2023), TCC worked alongside Coop Coffees, Root Capital, Sustainable Food Lab, Cool Farm Alliance, and six coffee cooperatives across Peru, Guatemala, and Honduras, to apply the Cool Farm Tool (CFT) on coffee farms, which allows small-scale coffee farmers to track and understand the environmental impact of their production, as well as the changes they can make to improve their practices for greater climate resiliency and crop health. Learning from this project includes key drivers of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and removals on coffee farms, and the best opportunities for improvement, as well as how to scale a model for compensating producers for their environmental services. For more information on how to involve TCC in collaborative projects, contact us.
