Sustain Coffee Database and Fellowship

Founded in 2018, Sustain Coffee was created to connect various actors within the coffee industry – researchers, cafe owners, roasters, farmers, non-profits, and beyond – with a comprehensive database collating available research and resources on sustainability. Ranging from topics pertaining to water management, climate change, gender equity, retail, and more, Sustain Coffee aims to serve as an inclusive digital library where a variety of value stream professionals can learn, explore, and understand how to take action to contribute to a more sustainable coffee future. The Chain Collaborative has the privilege of partnering with Sustain Coffee to contribute a variety of resources each year and to manage the Sustain Coffee Fellowship.

Throughout an intensive 5-month Fellowship program, Sustain Coffee Fellows work directly on the development of the Sustain Coffee resource library; receive credit they can put toward the cost of the full SCA Coffee Sustainability Program or other Chain Collaborative coursework; and receive training and mentorship in social media and stakeholder outreach. Fellows are responsible for creating and sharing monthly newsletters highlighting resources from the Sustain Coffee library, and managing Sustain Coffee’s social media accounts, which are leveraged to share resources found in the online library. In addition, Fellows are tasked with adding resources to the database and liaising with new contributors to request resource contributions.

Through the Sustain Coffee Fellowship, Fellows will be able to:
